EYFS

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is the framework that guides everything we do. It recognises that children learn best through play, exploration and hands-on experiences.

The Seven Areas of Learning

Prime Areas (foundations):

  • Communication and Language

  • Physical Development

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Specific Areas:

  • Literacy

  • Mathematics

  • Understanding the World

  • Expressive Arts and Design

We deliver the EYFS through a balance of child-led exploration and adult-guided activities. Children follow their own interests while our team plans experiences that support development across all seven areas. Learning is observed regularly and documented in online journals that you can access from home.

Learning Through Play

Play is at the heart of the EYFS. Children learn through exploring, creating, physical play, social play and time outdoors. Our farm brings the EYFS to life in unique ways where children don’t just learn about animals from books; they meet them, care for them and observe them every day.

By the time children leave Manor Farm, they are confident, capable and ready for school, with strong communication skills, emotional resilience, independence, early literacy and numeracy foundations, and a genuine love of learning.

“Every staff member, from managers to practitioners, is united by the mission of giving children the best possible start in life.”
