About

Get to know the story behind Manor Farm Nursery, the team who make it all happen, and the beautiful farm setting where your child could learn and grow.

Our Story

Manor Farm Nursery was bought nearly a decade ago by Kirsty and Josh, whose three children have thrived here under the care of the longstanding team and still attend Holiday Club today. As new parents themselves, they knew families wanted professional, exceptional Early Years care in a setting that felt warm, personal and closely connected to nature.

From the start, they invested in the team through training, mentorship and creating an inclusive, equal-rights workplace for staff, many of whom are local. Today, Manor Farm is one of Lechlade’s most loved childcare settings, known for its blend of outstanding education and authentic farm experiences, and as a place where practitioners can build a long and rewarding career.

Our Vision

We understand the worries and challenges parents face, from weaning and behavioural needs to welcoming a new sibling or supporting children with a parent working away. We’re here for all families, whether part-time or full-time, co-parenting, single parenting, or simply wanting to give their child the chance to socialise and grow before school.

From the start, our vision has been clear: to create a place where children can experience the wonder of farm life (something we both grew up with) while receiving the highest-quality Early Years education. Over the years, we have invested in our facilities, strengthened communication with parents and staff, and developed purpose-built rooms and rich outdoor learning spaces. Most importantly, we have built a team of highly qualified practitioners who share our values and our commitment to giving every child the best possible start.

Our Setting

Manor Farm Nursery sits within beautifully converted farm buildings on a large plot of Cotswold farmland. Each age group has its own dedicated room, giving every child a space designed for their stage of development.

Outside, we offer secure play areas with climbing equipment, sandpits, mud kitchens, open space to explore, a bikes-and-trikes field, and both sensory and vegetable gardens for hands-on learning.

Beyond our gates, neighbouring farmland provides daily interest, from tractors at work, to wildlife such as deer and rabbits, and of course the bugs and mud children love. Children visit the animal areas to feed chickens, watch pigs, groom ponies and care for rabbits and guinea pigs.

They also build dens, dig in the construction area and discover nature under real logs and ancient trees. Indoors, our rooms are cosy retreats with spaces for creative play, construction, role play, story time and quiet moments.

Meet the team

At the heart of Manor Farm Nursery is our team of experienced, qualified and genuinely caring Early Years Practitioners. With 28 qualified staff, 6 trainees and 5 managers, we bring over 30 years of combined childcare experience, offering real expertise, understanding and warmth.

Every member of our room staff holds an enhanced DBS check, Paediatric First Aid and Safeguarding training. Many are qualified to Level 3 or higher, and we invest in continuous professional development.

Our Team

Our trained chef and dedicated Food & Hygiene Manager prepare healthy lunches and teas each day, and Manor Farm is proud to hold a 5-star Food & Hygiene rating and a Committed Certificate from the Early Years Nutritional Partnership. Our grounds are also cared for year-round by our full-time gardener.

What makes our team special is their genuine love for children and their commitment to giving every child the best start in life. Many of our practitioners are parents themselves, bringing deep empathy for what families need and what children deserve.

“The staff are amazing — caring, consistent and always take time to really know each child.”
